INQUIRE ABOUT ADVERTISING ON THE ADD BLOG

The ADD Blog by Alan David Doane, What You're Missing on My Twitter Feed

What You’re Missing on My Twitter Feed

Here’s a roundup of my recent tweets on Twitter (slightly edited and remixed for clarity here on my blog). I’d love it if you’d follow me on there; you can do so via my Twitter profile page.

I question why any sane adult would want to be branded a “fan.” I’m a reader, myself. Fan implies a level of awe I don’t have.

Happy birthday to my wife, Lora, who doesn’t read my Twitter feed and thus will never see this. If my wife had a Twitter feed, I would read it. Just sayin’.

There was tons of potential left for Bucky Barnes, even if he stepped down as Cap once Steve Rogers took over the identity once more. Bucky’s death in Fear Itself felt random and pointless, and not in the good, “death IS random and pointless” manner. At the very least, Bucky’s death should have had some emotional weight to it, which it didn’t.

Was going to expand my thoughts into a post for Trouble With Comics, then I remembered Marvel has not made it right with the Kirby family. MAKE IT RIGHT, MARVEL.

I don’t know why I didn’t eliminate retweets from my timeline before. If it’s really important, people will write about it themselves.

Watching workers take a no-doubt cherished 15 minute break and use it to smoke, shortening the future minutes of their lives.

Glenn Beck mocks Obama for staying on vacation during quake and Irene. Meanwhile, Beck is broadcasting his paranoia from Africa. Stay there.

My wife shares a birthday with Jack Kirby. I share one with Geoff Johns. My wife wins.

Local newspaper says “Community has mixed feelings about second Walmart.” Mine are disgust and horror.

Danica is joining NASCAR? I always wondered what she did after The Wonder Years.

I see President Carter is trending. Recognition, perhaps, that he was the last decent human being to occupy the Oval Office?

The art in Teen Titans #100 amazed me. I didn’t know there was a Jerry Ordway clone.

Who’s the genius that scheduled all the Retroactive DC titles this month and Teen Titans: Games next month, as the entire line is rebooted?

Great comics from the last couple of years: LOEG: Century; Neonomicon; Wilson; Criminal; Mister Wonderful.

Supergods is a confused auto-hagiography by a smug, self-satisfied author. I’m amazed any publisher found it worthy of publication.

Morrison’s earliest paragraphs about Alan Moore so drip with jealousy and resentment that I had to grab a bucket to catch it all.

In Supergods, Morrison refers to the Vietnamese woman in Watchmen breaking a beer bottle “Glasgow pub style.” When did she visit Scotland?

I’m going to send my two kids out to hug the tree in our yard so it doesn’t fall over when Irene gets here.

Never read a Dan Zettwoch comic I didn’t like!

Guest host on Limbaugh today using codewords to deliver a heavily racist message and make bigots feel good about their hate.

Two angry old men in supermarket parking lot. Man #1: “I’ve lived long enough to know how to park!” Man #2: “You’ve lived too long, old man!” That just happened in the parking lot of my local Hannaford. I thought they were going to get into a fistfight. Disappointed they didn’t. And by the way, Man #1 did NOT know how to park. He was WAY off center in his spot. I just HAD to check and see for myself.

As if his recent shitty DC comics weren’t enough, Grant Morrison’s pompous and arrogant blatherings in recent interviews really turn me off. How I long for the Morrison who wrote Marvel Boy and JLA Earth 2 and let the comics do the talking. In a related note, Grant, Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 1969 is really fucking good.
